The Institute has a very well organized placement and training cell. The infrastructure in placement cell includes a seminar hall for conducting pre-placement talks, discussion rooms, interview rooms and other necessary amenities. The cell has good associations with a large number of renowned companies who visit the institute for campus recruitments. All the students of the final year are prepared for campus interviews through special programs on technical and soft skills, which would help them get prestigious jobs. SIT had a successful placement season with the participation of leading companies across sectors, offering coveted profiles to the students of B.Tech and M.Tech. Leading companies from a multitude of sectors participated in the final placements offering ‘sought-after’ profiles with competitive packages. The recruiter portfolio comprised a healthy mix of recruiters from IT sectors and fast growing start-ups. Further, few students, with their exceptional effort during their Internships and reputed corporate competitions were awarded PPOs (pre placement offers) by highly coveted companies.
Year 2022-23 marked the presence of more than 185 companies which include a blend of IT companies, Consultancy firms, Manufacturing Units, Digital marketing firm, Edtech companies. Department of Training and Placements
The Department of Training and Placements of Symbiosis Institute of Technology Pune handles campus placement of the B Tech & M Tech graduating students of all our campuses for Engineering. The Placement Cell provides complete support to the visiting companies at every stage of placement process. Arrangements for Pre-Placement Talks, Written Tests, Interviews and Group Discussions are made as per the requirement of the visiting companies.
OBJECTIVES:
- To organize campus interviews for B.Tech and M.Tech students with industries and reputed businesses from all over India as well as Overseas.
- To prepare students for campus interviews by arranging assessments for aptitude and coding. Group discussion and personal interview preparation through professional trainers.
- Providing requisite training to students in the area of personality development and communication skills.
- To encourage career counselling by organizing guidance lectures by senior corporate personnel’s.
- Maintaining regular interactions with the industry through Seminars, Guest Lectures, Conferences, Corporate Meets etc.
- Collaborate with industry for Live projects, Research work, Industrial visit, Workshop or any other academic alliances.
Placements policy for final placements
- A student can apply to any number of companies, IT / Core however after receiving two offers, S/he would be out of placement processes.
- Dream offer is defined as INR 8 lakhs in compensation and above. A student can avail only one dream offer.
- Eligibility for placement process will be based on performance of individual student at academics and criteria laid down by the recruiting company.
- Any communication from companies and vice a versa to the student will be routed through the Training and Placement office.
- The student must make sure to notify the Training and Placement office if they choose to opt out of the final placement process for personal or higher education-related reasons.
- The role of the Training and Placement office is of a facilitator and counsellor for placement related activities. Department of Training and Placements does not guarantee a job.

Project Semester: Concept, Objectives, Conduct and Quality Aspects
Project Semester is an internship of six month duration in industry in which the student undertakes projects and completes these projects to the full satisfaction of industry.
Concept
The emphasis in project semester is on undertaking projects and problem solving in the industry. The idea of an internship of six months stems from the realization that a short internship of 6 to 8 weeks is not sufficient for any meaningful and effective learning on the part of students. For industry also short internship is not useful as they are not able to contribute in such a short period. Project semester programme of SIT has been designed and monitored in a way that benefits all, the students, the institute and the industry. The student undertakes projects under a mentor from industry as also a faculty mentor. The faculty member closely monitors the progress of the students and also undertakes at least two visits to the concerned industry. At the end of the term there is a joint evaluation either in the Institute or in the industry.
Objectives
- To expose the students to real life working in the industry and practical aspect of theory learnt in classes.
- To inculcate among students the skills of problem solving using a systematic approach as also to sensitize them about-us-the-institute the importance of time limits for completing the projects.
- To create a mutually beneficial scheme for both the industry and the academic institutes. Students and the Institute benefit in terms of practical knowledge skills and the industry benefits by making use of students on projects.
Conduct of Project Semester and Quality Aspects
Utmost care is taken to ensure the quality of the project semester programme. Following steps are taken for the purpose:
- Choice of the industry: The industry is chosen very carefully keeping in mind the standing and status of the company, availability of projects, a will to deploy students on these projects and a faith in the institutes and students regarding their capability to successfully complete these projects.
- Regular follow up of the projects semester: Once the student is placed in an organization the institute maintains a regular contact with him/her and monitors his/her performance. For this purpose, a faculty member is appointed as a mentor. Similarly, a mentor is designated from the industry. The faculty mentor visits the industry twice during the project semester of the students and evaluates their performance.
- Regular and Joint evaluation: On each visit, the faculty mentor monitors the progress of the student and evaluates him/her using a designated performa. He meets the seniors in the industry and takes their feedback for evaluation. Towards the end of the internship, a joint evaluation is carried out either in the industry or in the institute.

Procedure for internship
The Institute will arrange internships in various organizations. Students will be allotted internship in a company based on merit or any other criterion laid down by the company.
In some cases the students may be allowed to arrange internship. In that case a student can take a letter from the placement/respective department and contact the company. The confirmation letter from the company has to be submitted in the placement / respective department.
Students will be associated with one faculty from respective department who will act as internal mentor. During six months duration, internal mentor will assess the student's performance twice. Final Evaluation of internship will be done jointly by the internal and company mentor.
Students will maintain the record of the work done in the industry and submit a report in the institute within one week of the start of the next semester. The certificate and the report have to be duly signed by a responsible official of the company.
The institute will arrange evaluation of the internship within 15 days of the start of the semester. The date of evaluation will be notified at least one week before the date of evaluation.
In case of companies coming to the institute to select students for internship, all regulations of 'placements' will be applicable for such internships.
